Swept Away

That's what has happened. I've been hijacked. Swept away. And by what? A male Celtic group.

I know what you're thinking. Surprise, surprise. Sarah is crushing on Irish boys who can sing. And, you know, it may have started that way. But that's not where I'm at now. (Besides, one of them is Scottish!)

I'm invested. I don't mean I've sent the wonderful Sharon Browne a basket of money (though, I did spend $$ on a cd, dvd, and meet and greet tickets). I mean, I have become emotionally invested. They have drawn me in with they're personalities and fun stories. I have been to their discussion page (like a chat room on steroids) and their fan forum. I have made friends with other fans across the US (and some outside of the US). And I've gotten to interact with each of them, personally. They are such truly down to earth guys. They have gone back to Ireland (and Scotland) and are back to the everyday. Damian, bless him, is back in school and it's almost like nothing has happened - except now he makes time near the end of the week to come online and say hello to all of his rabid American fans. George is back in Glasgow, living his life with his wife and daughter. And still going to the factory every day, building busses, before coming home for father-daughter time. He still does pub gigs. But there is a change. He tries to get online at least once a day with a cyber-pub full of people he has come to see as family. And we all love him for it (he has even admitted an addiction to the forum - drawing in even his wife and two of his sisters).

All five of these guys are really super-talented singers. They've got a gorgeous dancer named Zara who is a very graceful woman (and a good sport). And they've been brought together by an awesome producer named Sharon, a woman who has such a vision for this group! They blow me away every time I listen or watch. And they've helped to form a community. But the thing that makes me the most proud of them is how humble they all are about it. They all see themselves as lucky to be a part of this phenomenon. And because of that, I want to see them take the world by storm. I want to see their dreams come true. I want them to be bigger than Celtic Woman. I want them to succeed. So, I am willing to do whatever I can to make that happen. I am even moderating a section of their forum (after swearing I would never mod again).

So, if you haven't gotten on board with this, haven't even heard of them, this is for you. I hate to sound like I'm selling them, but they do have a magnificent cd and dvd for sale in stores and on Amazon (you can also get the cd on iTunes). And they will be touring the States in the fall (you can find out more about their stops and dates on their website, www.celticthunder.ie). Consider them. They definitely deserve a look!

Take a peek...you know you wanna...

Feeling

So, today is December 22nd.  My Grandpa Twilley died yesterday afternoon.  I don't know quite how to handle myself.  For the first two hours or so, I kept baking cookies.  And then I went to rehearsal and cried.

I just can't believe he's really gone.

Kenya Goodness

So, my friends Michelle Lewis and Robbie Roda work with this amazing ministry called Tumaini International (http://www.tumainiinternational.org/).  They are currently on a shorrt term trip to Kenya and Michelle posted her first update, so I felt I should share the blog and encouage you to pray for them!

So here we are in beautiful Kenya and found this cool little internet cafe that's sort of hidden in the back of a fast food restaurant.  The smell of fried chicken is driving me crazy but it's kinda interesting!  This is just going to be a short travel journal because we're only going to be here in Nairobi for a little while longer... enough time for lunch, meeting a prospective in-law (NO not mine- don't be crazy) and then on the long bumpy road to Masii.  It's gorgeous here right now, perfect weather, clear skies- and it's been raining for the past few days (after like 2 years of drought) so it's lush and green and fresh-smelling.  Curious to see if the rains have made it out to Masii- the crops were all failing last year and that sucked to see- so it will be good to maybe see some new life there.   VBS starts tomorrow and we are anticipating most of the kids (almost 440 now being sponsored- praise God) will be able to participate.

It's an incredible sensation to be back here.  It will be my 4th trip, and while that hardly makes me a local, it just feels like coming home.  Strange and wonderful- really makes me smile and just quietly ask God- "Are You bringing me back here again? Will I be staying longer in the future?"  I don't know- that would be kinda cool.

OK friends- gotta run for now but if you are reading this would you please share my love and keep us in your prayers?  Wishing you peace & blessings - Michelle

Just One Of Them Days...

So, it's Tuesday, December 5th and I have an interview right now for Alaska Airlines.  They sent me everything I would need for my interview.  I was told I needed three things: a pen, my resume, and my application completely filled out.  So, this weekend, I prepped.  I got my nice blazer dry cleaned and pressed.  I had my outfit picked out.  I showered the day before so my hair would be just dirty enough to hold a flip.  I had my briefcase packed with my laptop (so I could do some school work during any down time in the group interview) and I was prepared.  So, I got down to the hotel in downtown Long Beach where the interview was being held and I was 30 minutes early...

I forgot three very important things: a pen, my resume, and my application completely filled out.  They were sitting on the counter in my kitchen.  I wouldn't be able to go home, get them, and be back in time for the interview.  So, I had to cancel today and reschedule for next Wednesday.

Oy...
